1x42" and 1.5x48" belt sander plans (2 plans 1 package)I am including the plans for my 1x42" strip sander and 1. 5x48" strip sander in one package so don't have to decide which version to build ahead of time. Both are very similar in construction, but one is direct drive, the other belt driven. Personally I mostly use the strip sander XL, but the narrower belts on the 1x42" sander can get into places that the XL sander can't You can see a preview of the plans so you can get a better sense of what's inside

The engine can be built from solid birch plywood

It's like multiplying the size of your bit collection

which is why this (version 2) does not have a tilt mechanism)

but it appears the toy company has lost interest

without the need for metal working beyond drilling holes in metal and using a hacksaw

or smaller routers with removable bases

which allows you to view the sander from any angle

(The tilt mechanism on verison 1 was difficult to build and align and needed expensive high quality plywood to be sturdy enough
